My first
Book!
My very first fictional book: is now complete! It's titled 'The Unusual Suspects' and I am so proud of having finished such an enormous project - it's been enjoyably challenging, though teeth-grittingly hard work at times. I hope you will get yourself a copy and like reading it, as much as I have loved creating the world of White Waters Chase!
And there's a new on on the way! I've started on the sequel already: 'Natural Spawned Killers'.
THE UNUSUAL SUSPECTS by Shakalin Silver
Illustrations by Joseph Witchall

There’s a simmering panic amongst the creatures of White Waters Chase... They’re all waiting for the Sprin Bor – the annual tide of water which floods downriver, marking the beginning of spring, and winter's end. But this year, it’s late!

Things go downhill fast when Percy the ferret (though he prefers the name Black Paw) opens his big mouth….and within a matter of hours is arrested on trumped-up charges. Percy, a most unusual suspect - finds himself fleeing for his life, as he heads upriver on a stolen cargo-raft. This is the story of Percy’s quest to find out what’s happened to the Sprin’ Bor and clear his name.

He’s aided and abetted by various furry companions: a one-legged river rat and her crew of otters; a pair of young swallows and a semi-mute busking toad. Read about the many dangers they encounter in a desperate race against time, as winter ends. It's not just the Overlord and the Riverwatch that they need to be wary of – but the mysterious hooded figure of an almost jet-black polecat who seems to be following their every move.
Percy and his friends can be sure of only one thing: whatever the outcome, it’s not just their own little lives that might change forever – but an entire civilisation could be about to receive a nasty enema from the Almighty!

And coming soon...
NATURAL SPAWNED KILLERS by Shakalin Silver

After working solidly on 'A Winters End' for 6 months, by March 2022 I launched the Ebook of the newly renamed 'The Unusual Suspects.' This was followed by the paperback in May, the audio book in July and the hardback - due out very soon!

Now, as the nights draw in, and the temperature dips, it is time to look once again at the next book in the series. Originally, the 2nd book was going to be 'The 13th Ferret,' but that'll now be the third book. You see, after writing 'The Unusual Suspects' I realised that my favourite character was Pete. If you read it you'll see what I mean, and even my counsellor agrees that he's the coolest character in the book (Wheatley comes a close 2nd). So I decided to do a story just for Pete, cause he's brilliant.

It'll explain his rather complicated and slightly amusing back story. You'll find out why he ended up in White Waters Chase, and why he doesn't talk. So far I've scribbled a rather rough 26,000 words, now all I need to do is turn that into a 120,000 word novel called 'Natural Spawned Killers.' Watch this space!
